In this project we look at contextual and psychological aspects of current and prospective heterosexual and lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) parenting. This will be achieved by comparing three European countries differing on their social climate and/or legal framework concerning same-sex families: Portugal, Spain, and the UK. We will look at heterosexual individuals and LGBs’ parenting plans, as well as their contextual and psychological determinants. Overall, this project will challenge two biases in Psychology, namely heteronormativity and the assumed universality of psychological processes across social and cultural contexts.
